Overview:
The STEM Educator fills a primary institutional mission at our dynamic, growing children’s museum. NCCM has a creative and positive working environment, supporting innovative ideas. The STEM Educator will develop and teach science/engineering/design challenge programs for children ages 12 and under and their families. The person in this role also serves as a mentor for college & high-school science interns. The STEM Educator needs to be creative, knowledgeable and passionate about STEM and STEM education, eager to participate in professional development opportunities, a team player, and a self-starter.
• Pay $60,000-$65,000 annually (determined based on experience.)

Qualifications:
• Required: Bachelors or master’s degree in STEM field.
• Required: At least three years of teaching experience in related field.
Job Responsibilities:
Regularly Scheduled Weekly Hours
Tuesday 9:30-2:30 (planning hours & water table treatment)
Wednesday- Saturday 9:30-5:15 (public hours/planning hours)
*Scheduled days and hours subject to change based on the needs of the institution. This includes participation in professional development opportunities/conferences.
Hours during Camp Weeks (4 weeks per year)
Monday – Friday 8:00am-4:00pm
Job Responsibilities
● Plan and teach 60-minute Family Science Workshops (children ages 12 and under and their families) each Saturday (repeat morning and afternoon sessions)
● Mentor science interns from colleges & high schools
● Plan and teach two ten-week afterschool science class series per Fall & Winter Semesters (grades K-5)
● Plan and teach one ten-week preschool science class series per Fall & Winter Semesters (ages 3-5)
● Plan and lead one vacation week camp (February or April) Mon-Fri 9am-3pm (grades 1-5)
● Plan and lead three weeks of science summer camp, Mon-Fri 9am-3pm (grades 1-5)
● Teach 60-minute STEM workshops for school field trips when scheduled.
● As needed, support coworkers’ educational programs with supplementary scientific content.
● As needed, design STEM activity kits and upgrade existing pop-up kits.
● Engage in science outreach through collaboration with nearby organizations (universities, nonprofits, schools, etc)
● Administer weekly chemical treatments for water table, assist with water table maintenance as necessary. Monthly water table deep clean with assistance. Facetime/phone support through exhibit fabricator Boss Display.
● As needed, fill in for staff front desk and organize/clean-up exhibit materials.
