Overview:    

Position Summary

The Membership Manager will manage all aspects of the membership program including acquisition, retention and membership engagement. This position collaborates with the Guest Services team, Development team, Marketing and Communications team, and supervises the Guest and Member Relations Coordinator. The Membership Manager leads cultivation and engagement strategies of the Amazeum’s membership program by building relationships with individuals both internally and externally and partners with the Guest Services team to steward existing and potential members. 

Qualifications:    

Minimum Qualifications

● High school diploma or equivalent

● 2+ years’ experience in membership management, fundraising, customer engagement, marketing, or a related field.

● Demonstrated intermediate MS Excel proficiency including data analysis, pivot tables, v-lookups, and chart creation.

● Demonstrated experience with Customer Relationship Management (CRM) systems or databases (navigating, reporting, process configuration, etc.)

● 1+ year project management experience

● 1+ year previous leadership experience to include budgetary responsibilities

● Ability to effectively communicate with the coworkers and the public.

● Ability to work independently and as a member of a team, able to develop productive relationships with members and internal staff.

● Ability and willingness to work flexible hours including evenings, weekends, holidays and special events as needed.

● Strong customer service skills as primary contact for member inquiries (by phone, email, and in person). 

Job Responsibilities:    

Manage and promote the membership program

● Develops and implements a membership strategy to acquire and retain members through direct response campaigns, onsite sales, online and social media strategies, special events, and electronic communication

● Takes the lead role in conceptualizing new and refining existing membership levels and benefits

● Build relationships with members and works with the Development team to manage the contributing membership portfolio

● Work with Marketing team and external consultants to create/update copy and design of membership advertisements, print materials, direct mail pieces and email

● Work with Marketing team and Guest Services team to coordinate and implement strategies to increase sales and enhance on‐site member service

● Leads the Guest and Member Relations Coordinator in developing and executing a robust schedule of member events such an annual Zingfling, member previews of exhibits and member appreciation weekends.

● Other duties as required 

Manage daily membership functions

● Develop strategies and procedures for carrying out all aspects of membership service tasks, including the answering of emails, fielding of calls, and in-person follow up

● Work with the Membership team to process membership registration forms and membership fulfillment packages in a timely and efficient manner

● Works with Guest Services team to train Guest Services Associates on the role of the membership program and membership sales techniques/procedures

● Execute monthly renewal series (print and email) including updating copy, data pulls, creation of source codes and promo code, and coordinating activities with mail processing house

● Serves as a power-user for the membership components of the museum’s database, Tessitura and email marketing platform, Prospect2

● Maintain the membership database to ensure complete and accurate information about our members.

Data analysis and budgeting

● Create and monitor annual membership budget and track monthly budget expenditures

● Uses membership database to create regular reports and dashboards that analyze the effectiveness of campaigns and overall membership strategy, making adjustments as necessary
