Overview:

The Children’s Museum of Northern Colorado (CMNC) is seeking a Director of Experience to lead the vision, design, and impact of our exhibits and learning programs as we open and grow a dynamic, hands-on children’s museum.

Reporting directly to the Executive Director, the Director of Experience is a senior leader responsible for shaping exceptional, visitor-centered experiences across our 14,000-square-foot exhibit floor and facilitated programming. This role oversees exhibit development, learning programs, and the Experience Team, and serves as the museum’s lead in the Executive Director’s absence.

Qualifications:    

- Experience leading exhibit development in children’s museums, science centers, or interactive learning environments.

- Strong leadership, project management, and budget management experience

- Background in play-based learning, early childhood education, STEAM, or arts integration.

- Familiarity with inclusive and accessible design principles.

- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience preferred.

Job Responsibilities:    

- Lead the vision, design, and lifecycle of interactive exhibits and learning environments.

- Oversee exhibit development from concept through fabrication, installation, maintenance, and evaluation.

- Design and oversee facilitated programs that deepen engagement and learning impact.

- Supervise and coach the Experience Team, including the Education Manager and Exhibits Manager.

- Establish quality standards for safety, durability, accessibility, and guest engagement.

- Use visitor feedback and data to continuously improve exhibits and programs.

- Manage departmental budgets and collaborate on museum-wide strategy and planning.
