Arlington, Va.—The Association of Children’s Museums (ACM) today announced it has been awarded a substantial $900,000 grant from the W. K. Kellogg Foundation (Kellogg Foundation). ACM will use this significant funding to advance its mission of championing children’s museums and enriching the lives of children worldwide through prioritizing the rights of all children to playful learning and a healthy, safe, and equitable future.
The grant, which will be awarded over the span of three years, will sustain vital activities such as professional development, advocacy, research, and effective convenings of the children’s museum field. These functions empower hundreds of member institutions to innovate, collaborate, and expand their reach within their communities.
“We are incredibly grateful to the Kellogg Foundation for this generous investment in ACM’s operational capacity,” said Arthur G. Affleck, III, President & CEO of ACM. “This support ensures that children’s museums remain vibrant, inclusive, and impactful spaces where children learn through play, curiosity is nurtured, and communities are strengthened. It allows us to amplify the field’s collective voice and ensure that all children have access to transformative museum experiences.”
The Kellogg Foundation’s commitment will directly contribute to ACM’s ability to be a stronger, more resilient, and more effective organization. This, in turn, will result in more effective and efficient services to member museums, leading to healthier communities and improved social and educational outcomes for children and families across the country.
The Full Impact:
Collectively, ACM member museums serve over 30 million visitors annually. ACM supports more than 500 members and 35,000 staff and volunteers at these museums. Crucially, ACM also facilitates access for millions of children and families from disadvantaged backgrounds. All of these individuals and organizations will benefit from an ACM that is stronger, more resilient, and possesses increased capacity to serve its mission.
