In 2019, the Association for Library Service to Children (ALSC) and ACM partnered on the Welcoming Spaces National Forum project to develop a set of effective practices for library and museums serving families who have recently immigrated to or sought refuge in the United States. While COVID-19 prevented an in-person gathering, a virtual forum and We Are ALSC Chat occurred in 2022 and 2023 respectively. Ideas from the forum, chat, and current research were compiled into “Becoming a Welcoming Space for Immigrant & Refugee Families,” a downloadable pdf.
This project was made possible in part by the Institute of Museum and Library Services Award LG-16-19-0110-19.
