Overview:
This position is a highly physical floor position, ensuring the best possible visitor experience by keeping the museum clean, safe, and organized during open hours. We also rely on our Visitor Experience team to perform closing tasks.
Qualifications:
• This is a highly physical position that requires the employee to be actively cleaning and moving about the museum, sometimes for the length of an 8-hour shift (not including breaks).
• Staff members in contact with the public during open hours will require a criminal history background check from the state of Oregon's Department of Education.
• Staff members should be comfortable operating in an often busy, loud environment with a lot of people around.
• Flexibility in accepting directions and job assignments is an important qualification.
• We look for potential staff members with a positive, playful attitude, honesty, and good communication skills.
• We use a number of products for cleaning and sanitization; allergies should be communicated up-front so that we can accommodate them.
• Weekend and evening availability.
• Familiarity with maintaining appropriate behavior around children.
• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
Job Responsibilities:
• Picking up toys and returning them to their places
• Cleaning surfaces with sanitizer solution
• Cleaning bathrooms and replacing supplies
• Restocking arts and crafts stations
• Cleaning up messes (including occasional potty accidents) created by visitors
• Operation of laundry machines
• Performing closing tasks like exchanging toys, sweeping, mopping, surface, and vacuuming
