Overview:
The Theater Educator at NCCM fills a primary institutional mission at our dynamic children’s museum. The Theater Educator will develop and teach theater programs and camps for children ages 12 and under and their families. The Theater Educator also develops children’s theater performances as a complement to the museum’s programmatic offerings. The Theater Educator needs to be extremely creative, passionate about dramatic arts education, a team player, and a self-starter. Degree in relevant field and 3 years of teaching experience required.
Scheduled Hours: 20 hours per week
Tuesday-9:30am-2:00pm – Planning Hours
Friday-9:30am-5:15pm- Public Hours for PreK, and After School Theater Class Series Saturday- 9:30am-5:15pm- Public Hours for Drama Club & monthly Kids Stage Theater*Scheduled days and hours subject to change based on the needs of the museum.
Pay: $22-$30 an hour depending on background & experience.

Qualifications:
Degree in relevant field and 3 years of teaching experience required.
Job Responsibilities:
• Plan and teach Drama Club for children in grades 2-5 each Saturday afternoon 3 - 4 hour sessions over the course of a year in preparation for a final performance. Sessions held in NCCM’s Addie’s Opera House Exhibit.
• Stage an annual performance in Addie’s Opera House with Drama Club Kids.
• Plan and run drop-in Kids Stage Performance monthly on Saturday mornings.
• Mentor theater interns from colleges & high school. Includes outreach to schools to find/bring in theater interns.
• Plan and teach a ten-week afterschool improv/theater games class series for Fall & Winter 10- week semesters. Held once a week.
• Plan and teach a ten-week preschool dramatic play class series for Fall & Winter 10- week semesters. Held once a week.
• Plan and lead one vacation theater camp in collaboration with Arts Educator (February or April) 2-3 days: Mon, Wed, Fri, 9am-5pm
• Plan and lead two weeks of theater summer camp, Mon-Fri, 8:30am-4:30pm
• As needed, support co-workers’ educational programs with supplementary theater activities.
• Engage in arts outreach through collaboration with nearby organizations (universities, nonprofits, schools, etc)
• As needed, staff front desk and organize/clean-up exhibit materials.
• Attend Professional Development conference/workshop as available
