Overview:
The Early Childhood Senior Program Manager is responsible for setting the strategic direction for all Early Childhood programming at the Indiana State Museum and Historic Sites. Responsibilities include development, implementation, promotion and evaluation of all programming and services for early childhood youth, parents, educators, and museum visitors. Incumbent incorporates best practices, pedagogy and developmentally appropriate curriculum into early childhood programming and acts as subject matter expert in early childhood education. Programs may include workshops, outreach, camps, classes, special events and professional development opportunities for educators. This position also includes the responsibility of cultivating relationships with statewide early childhood institutions, educators, and parent groups.
Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree preferred or relevant work experience; 5+ years of experience preferred.
• Prefer experience working with youth in a formal or informal educational setting.
• Strong public speaking skills and able to show enthusiasm while working with youth and adults.
• Excellent project management, communication and customer service skills.
• Ability to work a flexible schedule, including holidays, long program days and some weekends.
• Experience with Altru or similar program registration platform is a plus but not required.
• Ability to work and communicate needs and information to other departments.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Familiarity with ADA compliance rules and procedures and awareness of cultural sensitivity issues.
• Have a current Indiana driving license.
• Able to perform essential functions with or without reasonable accommodation.
Job Responsibilities:
• Manage and administer educational programs for early childhood audiences including school workshops, outreach programs, camps, public programs, special projects and daily engagement
• Supervise Early Childhood Program Coordinator and Early Childhood Educators
• Oversee curriculum writing, staff scheduling and facilitation of early childhood programs
• Oversee the review, evaluation and improvement of early childhood programs
• Collaborate with the Director of Interpretation to integrate early childhood program development and implementation for changing exhibitions and core galleries, when appropriate.
• Work with the Vice President of Education and Engagement and other departmental staff to develop and implement strategic goals, objectives and action plans for education and outreach programming
• Work with the Education and Engagement Department to create a comprehensive education and outreach program schedule
• Work with marketing and communications staff to develop and implement a marketing and sales plan in support of programs and activities
• Develop, manage and track the early childhood budget
• Foster strong local, regional and national network of peers in related fields
• Stays abreast of current trends and policies related to child development
• Perform related duties as assigned
