Overview:    

Supervise the PlayHouse Education Department, including administrative work such as budgeting, marketing, grant-writing, and hiring and supervising instructors. 

Qualifications:    

Education: 

Four-year college degree preferred. An exceptional service record in customer service, management, hospitality, or cultural organizations may substitute for part or all of the degree preference. Spanish Language proficiency a plus.

Job Responsibilities:    

Develop and lead meaningful field trip experiences and other programs for school groups and teachers. 

Work with the PlayHouse Teacher Team, creating a spirit of collaboration and joint learning with a diverse group of teachers. Identify new areas of exploration for this group each year, and structure and lead productive and fruitful meetings.

Develop professional development / training to support floor staff in facilitating play and delivering educational content.

Supervise and support the PlayHouse Family and Community Educator in developing and delivering educational programs for toddlers, families, and scouts, as well as in the museum’s Maker Space art, construction, and engineering programs and spaces. 

Collaborate with PlayHouse staff to offer monthly Celebrate Peoria events, which showcase the diverse cultures of Central Illinois.

Establish and maintain relationships with schools, community groups, other Park District facilities, and other PlayHouse stakeholders.

Participate in exhibition development.

Promote education programs through social media and in collaboration with the Marketing Coordinator. 

Evaluate programs and use the evaluations to inform program changes.

Coordinate and collaborate with museum Director, Operations Manager, and other staff.

Follow and support all aspects of the Park District’s safety program.
