The Atlanta History Center is excited to welcome a part-time Children’s Experience Educator to our growing Education team. The Goizueta Children’s Experience is a new and exciting exhibition created for children from infancy through age 8, where hands-on learning, creative play, and themed programming spark wonder and discovery every day.
We’re looking for an enthusiastic educator with a passion for early childhood development to lead interactive programs, engaging activities, and memorable family experiences. If you’re energized by playful learning and love making history fun and accessible for young minds, we’d love to meet you! Fluency in Spanish is a plus, but not required. Educators work up to 28 hours per week on a flexible Tuesday–Sunday schedule, 9:00 AM–4:00 PM.
Qualifications:
Some college-level degree in education, relevant arts & humanities, and/or Child Development Associate (CDA) certification education field is preferred
1-2 years of formal or informal learning experience within instructional environments (such as early childhood education, elementary education, museum education, after-school programs, and/or camp counseling) preferred
Practical understanding of ages and stages of child development
Capable of multitasking, bringing creativity to the role, and having a genuine passion for working with young children.
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with an ability to connect with children, families, and colleagues.
Problem-solving skills with the ability to respond to challenges quickly, creatively, and effectively.
Ability to work collaboratively with diverse groups, including children, caregivers, staff, and community stakeholders.
Strong customer service orientation with a focus on creating positive visitor experiences.
Demonstrate organizational skills and effective time management.
Ability to stand, walk, and interact with children and families for extended periods of time.
Commitment to work some evening, weekend, and holiday hours. Some outdoor work may be required.
Appreciates the magic of early childhood learning.
Warm, enthusiastic, and engaging demeanor
Bilingual/Spanish speaking (strongly preferred)

Job Responsibilities:
Create a welcoming and positively stimulating environment for children and their families.
Facilitate the daily operation of educational and engaging experiences, including but not limited to, school tours, daily guests, youth programs and initiatives, and special after-hours events.
Actively and positively engage with children, caretakers, and schools to establish and promote a shared respect and empathy culture.
Communicate effectively with children, families, staff, and other community stakeholders to foster positive relationships and a collaborative environment.
Field guest requests, complaints, and praises in a helpful manner to enhance visitor satisfaction and resolve issues promptly.
Work collaboratively with Atlanta History Center (AHC) staff and key departments to understand and align with institutional objectives and strategies related to AHC mission and other activities.
Conduct daily walkthroughs of all children’s spaces at the start and end of each day to ensure readiness, cleanliness, and safety for visitors and staff.
Provide daily reports on safety and any incidents within the Children’s Experience, ensuring all concerns are promptly addressed.
Learn research-based practices, including delivery of Pre-Kindergarten and Kindergarten interpretive content, educational norms, and safety standards.
Leverage digital platforms such as Canva, Microsoft Suite, Cricut, etc. to support educational programs.
Oversee the inventory, organization, and maintenance of educational materials and resources to support programming needs.
Identify areas of improvement within the Children’s Experience and work with the team to implement changes that enhance the overall program quality.
Adhere to reporting system for maintenance requests within Children’s gallery.
Perform additional duties and tasks as required or assigned.
