Overview:    


Designed to inspire hands-on learning through play, the Miriam P. Brenner Children’s Museum (MBCM) engages children and families of all ages in fun, learning experiences which contribute to their growth and development through play, creation, outdoor exploration and STEM experiences. MBCM is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization. The Visitor Services Manager is the heartbeat of the Museum’s daily operations — enthusiastically keeping things running smoothly and safely. This role leads a diverse team of staff and volunteers, making sure everyone is on track and the visitor experience shines. The ideal candidate is someone who thrives in a fast-paced, energetic environment, leads with confidence, and knows how to maintain systems-based operations without losing sight of the ultimate goal: inspiring joyful learning through play! 


Qualifications:    


Minimum Qualifications:


• 1-2 years supervisory experience including staff recruitment, onboarding, training, evaluation and management

• 1-2 years in a customer service role

• Ability to communicate respectfully and effectively with a diverse group of people

• Ability to manage emergency situations with a calm demeanor

• Effective problem-solver

• Ability to learn the Museum point-of-sale system (Training will be provided)

Preferred Qualifications:

• Professional experience with or academic work in formal or informal learning environments (children’s museums, cultural institutions, community centers, etc)

• 3+ years of working with children and families with a focus on early childhood development or family support systems

• Fluency in more than 1 language • 3+ years of supervisory experience

• 3+ years in customer service

• Experience in nonprofit management 


Job Responsibilities:    


• Overseeing all aspects of visitor service staff management including hiring, training, scheduling, supervision, and communications 

• Ensuring the delivery of excellent customer service reflective of the Museum’s standards and values across the entire visitor services team 

• Maintaining the safety and cleanliness of the facility throughout operating hours including responding to guest injuries/illness, following lost child procedures, implementing severe weather protocol 

• Closely coordinating work of the visitor services team to support additional teams including education, development, and sales and marketing 

• Budgeting and resource stewardship 

• Shift management including opening and closing the Museum and leading the floor team to run exemplary shifts
