Overview:
The Sandbox Children’s Museum, a 17 year old premier attraction for children and families both local and visiting, is seeking a full-time executive director.
Responsibilities:
• Overseeing daily operations of the museum which is open seven days a week.
• Planning weekly and yearly events and special programs
• Overseeing educational components to programming
• Ordering supplies
• Staff hiring, scheduling, and payroll
• Budgeting, monthly financial reports
• Writing all grants to support programming including the yearly ATAX grant and completing follow-up reports to grantors
• Maintaining the facility and exhibits
• Completing and keeping all legal paperwork up to date
• Networking with local groups to bring awareness to the museum and how it can be supported.
• Marketing the museum and creating advertisements for local publications, maintaining all social media
• Recruiting, maintaining, and training all volunteers
• Communicating to staff, members, guests, and board members about the state of the museum
Additionally, the executive director is expected to attend all board meetings and board events and submit a report to board members prior to the meeting.
Qualifications:
• Degree in Early Childhood Education, Elementary Education, Hospitality Services, or other relevant backgrounds
• Experience with children and families required
• Experience with non-profits preferred
• Experience with budgeting preferred
• Experience in museums a plus
