Overview:
The Early Childhood Program Coordinator will assist with the development, implementation, promotion and evaluation of all programming and services for early childhood youth, parents, educators, and museum visitors at the Indiana State Museum and Historic Sites.
Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree preferred in Early Childhood, Elementary Education, Child Development, or related field
• Fluency in Spanish preferred
• Formal / informal teaching experience preferred
• Knowledge of the Reggio-Emilia-inspired philosophy to learning
• Excellent public speaking skills and should display enthusiasm and creativity while interacting with visitors of all ages and abilities
• Must be a team player
• Ability to work a flexible schedule, including early mornings, weekends, and occasionally evening events
• Ability to research and write programs, reports, and evaluations
• Ability to work with others on a development team, producing a unified product
• Ability to accept critical suggestions and respond effectively to program evaluations
• Strong organizational, critical, and detailed thinking, analysis, and networking skills
• Familiarity with ADA compliancy rules and procedures and awareness of cultural sensitivity issues
Job Responsibilities:
• Assist with research, program development and facilitation of early childhood programs including school programs, outreach programs, camps, public programs, professional development for educators, and daily engagement experiences
• Develop curriculum and implement designated early childhood programs assigned by the Early Childhood Program Manager
• Assist with grant funded early childhood projects including program development, program facilitation, and evaluation
• Prepare all materials for designated programs and set up of early childhood space, Firefly Landing
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of program supplies for early childhood space, Firefly Landing
• Assist in the development and facilitation of demonstrations and programs for early childhood events and larger public programs within the museum spaces
• Update and manager the early childhood school and community partner database
• Conduct informal and formal evaluation for programs, within the galleries, and throughout the museum as appropriate
• Enhance the visitor experience in the museum by engaging and interacting with visitors within the galleries including the early childhood space, Firefly landing, assisting with visitor questions and concerns
• Assist with program and education engagement department project teams
• Provide excellent customer service to daily visitors, program participants, educators, and parents
• Work with the Early Childhood Programs Manager to develop and implement goals, objectives and learning outcomes for early childhood programs
• Manage customer complaints, incidents, and accidents, taking the lead in emergency situations and safety issues
