The Iowa Children’s Museum (ICM) is searching for an individual who possesses the right mix of passion, professional experience, and personal characteristics to serve as its next Executive Director. Reporting to the Board of Directors, the Executive Director provides leadership and vision for all aspects of the museum as it provides innovative, educationally sound, age appropriate programming and exhibits that exemplify the power of play.
The Director administers and oversees all functions of the Museum, engaging the board in effective organizational planning, both strategic and annual. S/he builds and cultivates partnerships with organizations within the Iowa City-Cedar Rapids Corridor. S/he provides day-to-day leadership of the staff. Finally, the Executive Director strongly values stewardship of resources and continually works to secure the necessary financial support to ensure ICM’s immediate and long-term viability.
The successful candidate will be a seasoned professional who can communicate a clear vision for the museum and inspire board, staff, partners, and donors to become involved in the cause. S/he will be a creative, passionate, innovative thinker who leads by example. While formal training in early childhood learning and development is not a requirement, the successful candidate will be able to demonstrate a connection to, and interest in, the field.
