The Nido & Mariana Qubein Children's Museum in High Point, NC was formally incorporated as a non-profit entity in January 2018. The museum's board is ready to move toward project implementation and is searching for a consultant to assist with a theme, developing strategies for sponsorships, a director search and more.
The consultant is expected to research, inform, advise and offer guidance as to the following:
Museum theme – Research ideas that pertain to target audiences including preschool, elementary, possibly middle school and high school (with gaming/technology) and opportunities for field trips.
Mission statement development for the organization
Case studies of museums – present and benchmark museums across the country and provide examples and best practices
Exhibits – how theme will be interpreted through a variety of age populations, identify exhibits and why they are important to our theme
Conceptual exhibit layout
Cost of exhibits (fabrication cost)
Identify exhibitors and develop selection criteria
Director search – organization seeks to hire a permanent director. Consultant task will be to lead in this search, develop director qualifications, market the position and participate in the selection
Sponsorship opportunities – develop strategies for sponsorships including inventory of opportunities within the museum and community
Programs to incorporate – advise on programs that attract target audience and plans for implementation
Market conditions – advise on market conditions that museum board can take advantage
Branding / logo development
Develop milestone goals regarding visitor attendance, feedback opinions and budget
Visitor experience – assist in developing unique visitor experience
Elements to incorporate within museum – restaurant, playground, after school rooms, partnerships with local university
Operating guidelines – staffing needs, liability
Procedures / policy for museum operation

The expectation is for the selected consultant to be available on a routine basis, in person bi-monthly, weekly via phone call, and daily via text and/or email.
Provide monthly formal summaries of progress to date.
The period of proposed contract will be for six months. If needed, a longer term may be negotiated but the intent is for the consultant to bring this project forward and transition to a full time hire of a museum director in that time frame.
