Director of Education and Exhibitions
Amazement Square, a nationally recognized hands-on museum, seeks an energetic and creative museum professional for The Director of Education & Exhibitions This senior member of the museum’s leadership team, will oversee 5 full time & a number of part time staff, and will be responsible for the planning, implementation and management of the museum’s education and exhibit programs. The successful candidate will also play an important role in the development of programmatic activities for the museum’s new Education Center expansion, which will open to the public in December 2017. This position requires demonstrated leadership ability, excellent management, organizational, artistic and communication (both verbal and writing) skills. The hands-on, interactive and interpretive nature of Amazement Square’s exhibits and programs requires an engaged, flexible and highly creative individual with collaborative management style. The successful candidate will have a minimum of demonstrated experience in the museum field and in inquiry-based, constructivist educational pedagogy and curriculum design. Background in hands-on cultural/historical and or science museums, including interpretive programs and a proven track record in project management, budgets and staff is a key requirement. A Graduate degree in Education, Arts or Humanities, or Museum Studies is a highly desirable.
