The Creative Discovery Museum is a leader in effectively sparking children’s passions for learning through hands on experiences in the arts and sciences. It is a vital educational resource serving over 275,000 people a year and partnering with schools and community partners throughout the region. As a non-profit institution with a budget close to $3 million, approximately 65% of its budget is funded through ticket sales and earned income programs and the rest is supported through its fundraising efforts.
The Director of Development plays a key role in the development, implementation, coordination and evaluation of the Museum’s fundraising efforts. In this role, you will oversee annual and capital campaigns, corporate sponsorships, special events, foundation and government grants, planned giving and membership.
We are looking for a seasoned development professional with a college degree and at least three years of proven success in fundraising or a related field. We value energy, passion and the ability to work well with others including the board of trustees, staff, volunteers, and guests.

• Develops the Museum’s fundraising goals and strategies • Determines how the Museum can work most effectively with funders and potential funders, including individual donors, corporations, government agencies and foundations • Evaluates the impact and effectiveness of the Museum’s fundraising efforts • Prepares and administers development budgets • Implements strategies for membership acquisition and retention including direct mail, on-site sales, telemarketing and emarketing • Plans and implements all fundraising events including the Museum’s “Amuse”um fundraiser • Oversees preparation of government and foundation grant proposals as well as compliance with all provisions of grants awarded to the Museum • Coordinates the annual campaign including preparation of campaign materials, recruitment and coordination of volunteer solicitors, organization of phonathons, and appropriate recognition and acknowledgment of all donors • Identifies corporate sponsor prospects and solicits sponsorships including scheduling meetings, preparing proposals and ensuring fulfillment of sponsor benefits • Oversees planning and implementation of all membership and donor events including exhibit openings and the annual member Halloween party • Oversees membership and donor fulfillment • Develops and implement planned giving program • Oversees staff of two to three people including Membership and Development Managers
