A Native American Experience - A Peek into the Past

In this Plains Native American exhibit, "A Native American Experience - a Peak into the Past," kids are able to "cook" a dinner of fresh caught trout simmered with wild sage and parsley in a bison gut cooking sack hanging over the "fire" in a 12 foot tipi. They can dance and play music to their hearts delight, keeping a steady beat with the elk skin drum or deer hoof rattle.

They can grind corn on the large grinding rock, or settle down on the animal skin rug to play games of the Native American past, or choose a great story from the stack of books; all while wearing clothing replicated from museum artifacts.

There are arrowheads to look at and a baby in a papoose. Maybe they'll get to sample some "bison jerky" followed by a large drink of cold water in a bison horn cup.
