Closing Plenary Session and ACM Great Friend to Kids Awards Ceremony
Friday, May 5 • 10:30 a.m.–12:00 p.m.
ACM will present its 2017 Great Friend to Kids Award to The Association of Junior Leagues International. The award is presented annually at InterActivity and honors those who have made significant contributions to strengthen education and advance the interests of children. ACM selected The Junior League for its outstanding contribution in developing children's museums around the world, including InterActivity 2017's host museum, Kidspace Children's Museum. As a pioneer in the development of children's museums, The Junior League helped inspire a cultural movement that has changed children's lives around the world.
About The Junior League: Founded in 1901, The Junior Leagues are charitable nonprofit organizations of women, developed as civic leaders, making a demonstrable impact on their communities. True to their mission, today's League members work at the forefront of social reform, tackling the toughest and most critical issues of the day for the purpose of enchancing the social, cultural, and political fabric of civil society. As a result of this work, The Junior League—and the more than 150,000 women in 291 communities in the United States, Canada, Mexico, and the United Kingdom who comprise its ranks—has amassed an archive of tangible results and a reputation as thoughtful and influential change agents dedicated to public good.
